Benefits of a Regional Collaborative Archive

    for Congregations of Religious.

    Discussion hosted by the

    Chicago Collaborative Archive Center (CCAC)

    Tuesday, June 25, 2024

    2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST

The board members of the CCAC recognize the need for collaborative archives for congregations of religious, particularly women religious in LCWR regions 8-15. While collaborative archival repositories are emerging, they do not yet meet the future needs for the volume of collections requiring preservation.

The CCAC offers a pioneering, state-of-the-art solution to house collaborative archives for religious in Chicago, a city rich in history, research, and preservation. This site will serve a national as well as regional religious communities of both men and women.  Join us to learn about this innovative project, where preserving the future of religious archives is key to transmitting charism and telling a nuanced story of America. The CCAC invites collaborative archives to become members and partners with our team.

There will be a Q&A session and discussion following the presentation. The goal of this program is to inform and connect interested parties. If there is sufficient interest, we are ready to support a working group to explore further possibilities. Establishing such a collaborative archive would necessitate securing funds and creating a 501c3 nonprofit entity.
