What do you do when collection donors procure items through illicit means? What if your collections have illegal items? How do we deal with admissions of crimes in our collections? Archivists have always had to deal with ethics, privacy, and illegal material. But in the moment, and without any precedent, it is hard to know what to do.
Join SAA's Committee on Ethics and Professional Conduct (CEPC) for their annual meeting on July 22 at 2pm Eastern/11am Pacific. After a brief summary of the year, Sarah Coblentz will discuss case studies on real life problems encountered when processing and making archival collections available to the public in the University of Kentucky Special Collections.
Registration is free and open to all, including non-members of SAA. The meeting will be recorded through the presentation, but not the Q&A session. We hope this will encourage an open discussion.
