    Posted May 12, 2022 04:10 PM

    Dear archives community members:

We invite you to participate in a research survey about reparative description practices specific to disability. Reparative description is the practice of replacing, updating, or contextualizing potentially outdated or harmful language used in collection descriptions. The goal of reparative description is to be accurate, inclusive, and community-centered.

Survey participants will help us better understand how institutions are formulating reparative description initiatives, and how these initiatives relate to disability communities. Your involvement in the survey will remain completely anonymous unless you choose to share contact information. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

This study, IRB # 19460, has been certified exempt by the Washington State University (WSU) Human Research Protection Program (HRPP).

    Sincerely,

Gayle O'Hara, Greg Matthews, and Talea Anderson, Washington State University
