  • 1.  CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS TO MUSEUM ARCHIVISTS NEWSLETTER

    Posted May 13, 2022 04:21 PM

I am excited to place the first call for written submissions for the SUMMER 2022 issue of the Museum Archivist newsletter. Please consider contributing to the newsletter, it is a great way to share updates, projects, and news with colleagues across the nation. Anyone is open to contributing an article to the newsletter, and we look forward to hearing from all different institutions and members of the MAS community. Please email me your pieces by Monday, June 27, 2022.

Consider writing on one of the following topics:

    • COLLABORATION! If you have been working on a collaborative project with another institution or group of archivists, consider submitting a co-authored report or update on the project.
    • Professional updates
    • Reports on reopening plans\working in the hybrid environment
    • Decolonizing museum archives
    • Reports or updates on DEAI initiatives at your institutions
    • Community archives or community-based projects
    • Featured reviews on current exhibitions, collections, or publications of interest
    • Features on projects that highlight a particular topic, a new technology, or something notable to the community
    • Internship and project profiles that highlight colleagues' work
    • Future events or public programs that would be of interest to the Section
    • Other projects you're working on

Finally, consider submitting to the "Meet Your Fellow Archivist" section of the newsletter by introducing yourself or a colleague to the Museum Archivist members. Considering responding with the following questions:

    • Name of the person
    • Their position or title
    • Any affiliated organization or institution (e.g., institution, organization, self-employed, etc.)
    • Tell us about your position or institution and how you came to work there?
    • What does your workday look like? How do you spend most of your time daily?
    • Tell us about an exciting object or collection in your archives?
    • Share information about an exciting project you are working on or have recently completed (feel free to submit images or a link)?
    • Share a review of an exhibition you recently visited or a publication or book you recently read.

See previous issues for inspiration HERE.

General word-length guidelines are 250-500 words for profiles and updates; longer articles on collections, special projects, and topics are welcome. High-resolution images are accepted and encouraged!

Reminder: Please submit by Monday, June 27, 2022, to  saamasnewsletter@gmail.com

Additionally, feel free to reach out to me via the email above with any ideas you might want to consider submitting or questions/comments you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!

    All my best,

    Janeen
