Issues & Advocacy Section (2023 Meeting)

DESCRIPTION

The Issues and Advocacy Section Meeting will take place on June 21, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM CT/ 2:00 to 3:30 PM ET. This year the section meeting will include a brief presentation from the Steering Committee to review the work of our section over the past year followed by a special edition of our new Hive Mind program series.

The Hive Mind  is a periodic, 1 hour, unrecorded conversation that is open to all. In this special Hive Mind our Steering Committee will moderate an informal discussion of our audience and participants focused around the ways our section might organize ourselves in the coming year. 

Questions we plan to discuss include:

• What issues and areas of advocacy do you see as having the largest impact on your work as an archivist? 
  
• What are your biggest concerns for the future of the archival profession writ large? For example, are you concerned about ongoing issues that center labor, sustainability, equity and inclusion, or any other major topic? 
• What opportunities and information would best support you in achieving your goals for your personal work and your professional institution? 
• What do would like to hear more about in the future from the Issues and Advocacy group?
