The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Labor History Research Center at the George Washington University is having another in its line of labor history book talks. On March 27 at 7 PM EST, Associate Professor of Women's and Gender Studies at Saint Louis University Amanda L. Izzo will discuss Teamsters Local 688 and its embrace of feminist issues in the 1960s and 1970s. Led by General President James R. Hoffa's heir apparent Harold Gibbons, the St. Louis local became a beacon of progressive policies at a time when much of the labor movement remained conservative and anti-communist.
As always, the talk is over Zoom and free and open to all. You can register for the talk through the link at the bottom of the event page. Anyone who registers will be given a link to the recording once the talk is complete. Of course, joining us in person will give you the opportunity to ask questions.
Please send me an email at smallen@gwu.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
