In April, the National Humanities Alliance (NHA) administered the COVID-19 Humanities Community Survey to document the impact that COVID-19 was having on humanities institutions throughout the United States. Hundreds responded, including archives, libraries, and other cultural institutions and shared the challenges they were facing as well as the remarkable work they were doing in the face of crisis. The responses informed the NHA's actions over the past few months:

    •           Connecting members of the humanities community with their Members of Congress.

    •           Conducting congressional briefings on the financial impact of COVID-19 on cultural organizations, as well as the incredible work humanities institutions are undertaking.

    •           Creating resources to help humanities institutions document the impact of their work right now.

Seven months into the pandemic, the landscape has changed considerably. The NHA is seeking a greater understanding of this landscape to determine how they can best support humanities communities. That's why they have created a new COVID-19 Community Survey. This survey provides an opportunity to share about:

    •           Your ability to access support from federal, state, and local governments.

    •           The challenges you see for your institution in the near future.

    •           Your work right now and specifically the ways you are serving your students and communities in the face of the crisis.

These are challenging and busy times for everyone in the humanities community. Your willingness to take the survey will be greatly appreciated. Access the survey here.
