Hurricane Delta is on the move toward the Gulf states, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. According to the National Hurricane Center, there is an increasing likelihood of life-threatening storm surge and dangerous hurricane-force winds, especially along the coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi, beginning on Friday.

Residents in these areas should ensure they have their hurricane plan in place and monitor updates to the Delta forecast. And the same applies to cultural institutions and arts organizations.

Preparedness tips for cultural stewards – in Word and as a PDF – are available here from the Heritage Emergency National Task Force. These tips can also be found on the HENTF dashboard, which will furnish key messages and graphics from the National Hurricane Center through the weekend.

However, for the most up-to-date information, HENTF encourages you and your constituents to:

    • Keep this 24/7 hotline number handy: 202.661.8068. The National Heritage Responders, a team of trained conservators and collections care professionals, are available 24/7 to provide advice.

More hurricane relief and recovery resources are available here.
