    Description

    It is the mission of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. To help the state maintain its competitive edge, the department offers comprehensive services which assure that our clientele have access to information resources: virtual, physical and human. As one of 10 state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs. 

    Our programs are structured to link the enduring resources of archival collections with the contemporary information resources of government and libraries. From this comprehensive perspective, the department is helping preserve the Commonwealth's rich legacy as it contributes to building a stronger Kentucky future. 


    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Plan, develop, coordinate, and administer programs and services of the Electronic Records Management Branch, including the Electronic Records Archives. Provide oversight and coordination for electronic records management and digital preservation for state and local government.
    • Chair and coordinate work of multi-agency Electronic Records Working Group, to develop recordkeeping guidelines for electronic records and digital preservation.
    • Study and monitor technology and its effect on recordkeeping for public agencies.
    • Communicate regularly with customers, government agencies, and archives and records management professionals.
    • Write professional analyses and reports, including monthly narrative & statistical report to Division Director. Assist in division training program for government officials.
    • Supervise professional staff and oversee operation of the Electronic Records Archives.
    • Provide advice and assistance to state and local government agencies on archives and records management issues related to electronic records and digital preservation.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    The successful candidate for this position will have experience and knowledge of digital information systems and library cataloging tools. A passion for information literacy and a dedication to quality customer service is highly preferred.

    Minimum Requirements

     

    EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

     

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional experience in records management, micrographics, document preservation, or archival experience in one or more of the following areas: appraisal, accessioning, description, and/or the arrangement of documents, or requisite skills. The experience, training, or skills requirement cannot be met with only requisite skills.

     

    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

     

    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional professional experience in one or more of the above areas will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

    Working Condition

    Work is performed in an office/library environment.

     

    Probationary Period
