Creating Safer Online Spaces with Lorin Jackson and kynita stringer-stanback

    April 19, 2022 | 3:00 p.m. Central

New webcast in part of SAA's DEI Series

If we have learned anything from the past two and a half years, it is that pivoting from in-person work to remote environments is not a seamless transition. In fact, many of us have witnessed several examples of how moving our programming to online environments amplifies many of the inequities that are present in the way our society functions. In this course, we will explore what safer online spaces mean to us and how we can work to cultivate better spaces for all.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to
    :

    • Identify and recognize individual perceptions of welcoming spaces online
    • Summarize examples of cultivating intentional, safer spaces
    • Begin to apply key concepts for future use
    • Commit to at least 1 practice to implement within the next year
Who Should Attend: Anyone who works in archives and libraries, but especially those responsible for creating and providing online instruction or programming.

What You Should Already Know: No prior knowledge necessary.

This webcast made possible by a grant from NHPRC.
