  • 1.  SAA Mentors Needed!

    Posted Nov 29, 2021 04:35 PM

    Dear colleagues,

The Society of American Archivists’ Mentoring Program is currently seeking additional mentoring volunteers! The Mentoring Program connects participants with shared interests in various aspects of the archival profession. The goal is to cultivate career development and communication between members with areas of expertise and members who want to build their knowledge within those areas.

We currently have people waiting for:

    • A BIPOC mentor based in the South or Mid-Atlantic with SAA service experience
    • A mentor based in Virginia specializing in military archives
    • A Black and/or queer mentor based in New York
    • Mentors based in Flagstaff, AZ; Maine; Upstate New York; North Carolina; Philadelphia, PA; and Houston, TX

Do you think you don't have any expertise to share? Some of our colleagues waiting for mentors are just getting started in the profession and are looking for advice on schools, classes, career trajectory, resume development and interviewing skills. For inspiration and insight into what a mentoring partnership looks like, I encourage you to read the recent posts on the SAA Membership Blog written by recent mentoring partners to learn how a relatively small commitment can make a big difference for a colleague’s growth.

Please consider signing up to be a mentor by submitting this application (click on "Apply to be a mentor").

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Caitlin Birch
