    Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce that the newsletter of SAA's Description Section, Descriptive Notes, is becoming a blog!

Inspired by the launch of the Description Section's Inclusive Description Portal, Descriptive Notes seeks submissions for a blog series on inclusive description, reparative description, and conscious editing. Inclusive description recognizes that no archival function is neutral, but that actions can be taken to remediate and avoid bias and harmful language in finding aids, catalog records, and other description. Posts that engage with themes of descriptive equity, community engagement, cultural humility, and radical empathy are particularly welcome.

Descriptive Notes welcomes blog posts, announcements and updates, shared resources, and visual content relating to issues of archival description.  We would like to hear from you about your case studies, projects, collaborations, and any conversations that would be of interest to readers.  You can view previous issues of our newsletter here: www2.archivists.org/groups/description-section/...

We expect our first series of posts to launch in March 2021. To be included, please pitch us a short description of your submission idea by Monday, February 1.  We also accept submissions on a rolling basis for all issues related to archival description. Send all pitches to SAAdescription@gmail.com.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to your submissions!
