Dear colleagues,The Society of American Archivists' Mentoring Program is currently seeking additional mentoring volunteers! The Mentoring Program connects participants with shared interests in various aspects of the archival profession. The goal is to cultivate career development and communication between members with areas of expertise and members who want to build their knowledge within those areas.Think you don't have any expertise to share? Some of our colleagues waiting for mentors are just getting started in the profession and are looking for advice on schools, classes, career trajectory, resume development and interviewing skills.We currently have people waiting for mentors who can offer guidance on one or more of the following:
- Archival processing
- Collection management
- Consulting/freelance work
- Metadata and description
- Visual materials
- Digital archives
- Digital preservation
- Writing and Publishing
- Exhibits
- Media preservation
- Supervision and management
Mentors with experience working in one or more of the following:
- Community archives
- Lone arranger situations
- Academic libraries/archives
- Government archives
And mentors who can offer career advice regarding one or more of the following:
- Professional development
- Network building
- Job search
- Changing professional focus
