    Director of the Charles Andrew Rush Learning Center/N.E. Miles Library


    Birmingham-Southern College is excited to announce its search for a visionary, collaborative, thoughtful, and adaptive leader to serve as Director of the Charles Andrew Rush Learning Center/N.E. Miles Library. This is a 12-month, tenure-track, administrative, faculty position with negotiable rank reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and has responsibility for the organization, administration, operation, and evaluation of library services, physical facilities, staff, collection, and budgets.     Qualifications & Salary Range

    The successful candidate will have an ALA-accredited master's degree in library and/or information science; a second master's or Ph.D. degree is preferred. Familiarity with a liberal arts institution is highly preferred. A familiarity with OCLC's WorldShare Management System is preferred. Traditionally underrepresented candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must demonstrate: 

    • a strong background in managing library services and personnel in an academic institution;

    • support for equity and diversity among the community and staff;

    • an ability to evaluate, prioritize, and implement technology appropriate to academic libraries;

    • experience with budget administration;

    • an ability to work collegially with faculty from all disciplines;

    • engagement in and support for professional development;

    • excellent oral and written communication skills; and,

    • a willingness and ability to fulfill librarian duties in addition to administrative ones. 


    Compensation for this position includes a salary range of $70,000 - $76,000, plus employer contributions to the College's fringe benefits package.
