Hutchins Library at Berea College seeks a dynamic staff member for a one-year Processing Archivist position starting August 2021. The ideal candidate would perform accessioning, arrangement, description, rehousing and basic preservation of archival and manuscript collections documenting Berea College, local history, and Appalachian cultures.<o:p></o:p>
Ideal candidates would have a minimum of one year experience processing archival collections in an academic library or other archival research center and be enrolled in a graduate program in library science, archival studies, or public history, or hold a archives-focused degree in one of these fields. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate creative problem solving skills, an understanding of professional protocols for arrangement, DACS description, and preservation of archives, and a commitment to the code of ethics of the Society of American Archivists. Previous experience using ArchivesSpace database software is requested but not required.<o:p></o:p>
