Whether affected by Ida, Fred, wildfires or Tennessee flooding, many in the US have recently faced natural disasters.

If your institution has been affected, please reach out to HENTF (Heritage Emergency National Task Force). We'd like to know you're safe and ascertain if any damage was done to your institution. Feel free to email me personally at hparks@binghamton.edu or go directly to them at hentf@si.edu.

Here are some resources that might be helpful.

    • FAIC's National Heritage Responders – a nationwide team of conservators, archivists, collections managers, and other professionals – are trained to provide free salvage guidance over the phone to cultural stewards. The 24/7 hotline: 202.661.8068
    • NCAPER has just published An Arts Field Guide to Federal Disaster Relief. This easy-to-use guide helps artists and organizations see what federal aid is available, understand clearly what isn't available, and decide if pursuing federal aid is a good use of time. It also applies to cultural institutions.
    • Save Your Family Treasures. This SCRI website includes salvage instruction sheets, HENTF fact sheets, and links to additional salvage resources. It also contains information for historic property owners. Does your organization have resources to share? Please send them to hentf@si.edu and we'll add them to the page.
    • FAIC's National Heritage Responders are now staffing a public helpline email account to respond to inquiries from the public. Please share this email address widely: NHRpublichelpline@culturalheritage.org
