This month, we welcome Danielle Sangalang, Archivist and Records Manager at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Danielle will present:
"Using ArchivesSpace for Data Curation in an Unconventional Way."
Many archivists use ArchivesSpace for accessioning, finding aids, and the public user interface, but there are also nonconventional uses of ArchivesSpace. Since learning that the Massachusetts College of Art and Design does not have a complete list of graduates from 1873 to the present (not in the Alumni Office or the Registrar's Office) the archive has been working since 2017 to create this list using ArchivesSpace. This list has also proven to be useful for curating information such as the number of graduates from each major for the college's upcoming 150th anniversary in 2023. Join us to learn more about this project and share your ideas!We welcome all sections to join us! In our two years of chats, we have learned many lessons, not the least of which is that archives practice truly transcends section boundaries. We have experienced much-added value when non-C&UA section members have contributed. Whether you want to contribute or simply listen in, we're happy to hear from all members.
