The International Journal of Naval History, an online peer-reviewed journal, is seeking articles written by archivists whose collections include naval or maritime history materials for our "Inside the Archives" column. "Inside the Archives" articles can highlight individual items or whole collections. They can be short pieces, approximately 400-600 words, or longer presentations (up to 1200 words) and should include images from your collection. Highlighting materials available through a digital interface, online collection, or online exhibit for 2021 is greatly encouraged.

The journal is published quarterly by the Naval Historical Foundation. After a hiatus in 2019, the most recent issue was published in December 2020. The Inside the Archives Column "In the Age of Covid" discusses how archivists have adjusted to COVID and ways that researchers can approach archival collections remotely. There will be 3 additional issues this year, the next in April, and we hope to represent a broad range of collections.

Your collection/institution does not have to be military, navy or maritime focused; universities, state and local institutions that have collections with maritime, naval or coastal collections should consider contributing.

Through Inside the Archives, the IJNH hopes to promote knowledge of and research with naval and maritime archival collections across the globe. I am happy to work with first time authors, new archivists, and those who are new to working with naval or maritime collections or to find ways to emphasize established collections to new audiences. Previous ItA columns have highlighted the military service of the Roosevelt children (FDR Presidential Library), USO Archives, collections at the Naval War College, Naval Postgraduate School, and the Smithsonian Institution.

If you or your institution might be interested in contributing a column for 2021, or you have any questions please contact Dara Baker, Assistant Editor for Archives, International Journal of Naval History at dabaker.research@gmail.com.
