    July 31, 2020-

In the last several days, a number of tropical storms and hurricanes have formed around the United States, affecting areas spanning as far as Puerto Rico and Florida to Texas to Hawaii. We send our very best to those who are in the path or have been affected by these recent storms. If you know anyone in these areas, please do share this email with a number of important resources for hurricane preparedness and recovery.

For immediate assistance, contact the National Heritage Responders at 202-661-8068.

Hurricane Isaias continues its trek across the Caribbean after causing power outages, significant rain and wind, and landslides in Puerto Rico. The center of Isaias is approaching the Bahamas today and is forecast to be near or east of the Florida peninsula on Saturday and Sunday. The storm's impact may well span from Florida all the way up to New England.

The HENTF dashboard will furnish key messages and graphics from the National Hurricane Center through the weekend. However, for the most up-to-date information, you and your constituents should:

A Hurricane Warning means that hurricane conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area.  Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion.

A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the watch area.  A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.

    Please stay safe.

Thank you to the Heritage Emergency National Task Force for preparing these resources!

**Further update on Tropical Storm Isaias from the Heritage Emergency National Task Force**

NOAA predicts Tropical Storm Isaias will bring heavy rainfall to Florida and the immediate Georgia coast tonight and parts of the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast this week. Please encourage your members and constituents to monitor Isaias's progress and ensure that their flood plans are in place. Flash and urban flooding – not just along the coast – are possible.

Key messages from the National Hurricane Center will be posted to the Chat box in the freely accessible HENTF dashboard. For the most up-to-date information, links to the National Hurricane Center, local National Weather Service offices, and state emergency management agencies are also provided.
