Greetings all!
The Society of Mississippi Archivists is excited to announce its upcoming Virtual Table Talk, "Mississippi University for Women's LGBT+ Oral History Collection: From Student Project to Growing Collection," a talk given by Nichole Bonaventure-Larson, Joshua Herrick, Victoria Jones, and Bridget Pieschel.
More about this talk:
The LGBT+ Oral History Project began as a student honors project in 2012-2013 which began a collection of oral histories from lesbian alumnae of Mississippi University for Women. These three original histories were expanded into the current project with the formation of a project board which included stakeholders from many departments on campus. Guided by the structure of existing oral history programs at MUW, the project was broadened to include the full spectrum of LGBT+ alumni in its purpose. Students served as interviewers and transcribers during MUW's annual homecoming and the collection now includes numerous additional interviews. The Beulah Culbertson Archives and Special Collections houses and maintains the collection. In this talk the speakers will discuss the growth of the project, how it has been affected by COVID-19, and their next steps.
