    Dear Colleagues,

Due to a system malfunction the recruitment originally posted on USAJobs on October 11, 2019, for 20 Pathways Recent Graduate positions, including one digital archivist, at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) has been reopened. The 20 Pathways Recent Graduate positions has been re-posted on USAJobs today and closes at midnight on 11/3/19. A list describing the 20 positions can be seen at https://www.nlm.nih.gov/careers/pathways201910.html You can apply at USA Jobs at https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/550210800

Anyone who applied to the initial posting MUST REAPPLY to the new announcement to be considered for this recruitment. We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience of reapplying, but you must do so to be an applicant for these exciting positions. If you wanted to apply and didn't do so, or if you missed the initial announcement, this is your second chance!

The 20 positions are available within Library Operation's Bibliographic Services Division, Technical Services Division, History of Medicine Division, Public Services Division, and Office of Engagement and Training. To be eligible as a Pathways Recent Graduate, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who have up to six years after degree completion to apply). NLM seeks to hire diverse professionals in archives, history, library/information science, life sciences, chemistry, biology, or related fields. The positions are listed as Technical Information Specialist GS-9 level with a 2019 pay rate of $57,510-$74,759; successful candidates are eligible for permanent positions (which may be in a different job series – Librarian, Archivist, Exhibition Specialist, etc.) after one year of service at the GS-9 level. We encourage applicants to include a cover letter identifying the area(s) or positions they are most interested in to help with planning interviews.

The digital archivist will work in the Images and Archives Section of the History of Medicine Division to appraise the born-digital content of potential donations to advise on the preservation and access needs of born-digital media; organize and describe the born-digital materials following archival best practices for describing born-digital materials; assist with the long-term preservation of born-digital materials; develop and provide research services; work with NLM web archiving and collecting working group on the development of new web collections; work with data scientists at NLM and NIH to identify data sets and other born-digital materials for future archiving; and conduct data-focused research in the NLM collections, publishing the results of that research in open-access resources, and engaging with NLM's public constituencies to share methodologies and enhance the discoverability of the NLM unique data resources.
