    Dear colleagues,

I'm pleased to announce the availability of the Summer 2020 issue of Descriptive Notes, the newsletter of the SAA Description Section. You can access it directly here, or through the Section's microsite.

This issue features writing on reparative description, drawing from projects around the country. Jessica Maddox and Kimberly Andersen discuss their implementation of the Protocols for Native American Archival Materials at the University of Nevada, Reno, as they work toward more respectful stewardship of Indigenous materials. Whitney Buccicone, Gayle Cooper, and Elizabeth Wilkinson share an outline of a long-term plan at the University of Virginia toward reparative efforts that redress harmful collection descriptions and amplify underrepresented voices. At the Greenville County Library System in South Carolina, Rulinda Price describes an ongoing project begun in 2010 that aims to surface, within county records, the names of people who were enslaved.  You will also find Section updates and announcements.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this issue. We hope it is an informative one.

    Best,

    Lori Dedeyan
