    Located in Boston's historic Fenway area, Simmons University is a private, non-sectarian institution that has prepared women for leadership in the world through transformative education that links passion with purpose since 1899. Today, Simmons serves nearly 2,000 students in a women-centered undergraduate program and nearly 5,000 students in coeducational graduate programs. Simmons recently achieved university designation and embarked on an academic redesign to create four interdisciplinary colleges, including the College of Organizational, Computational and Information Sciences.??

    The College of Organizational, Computational and Information Sciences (COCIS) houses the School of Library and Information Sciences (SLIS), a top-ten ranked program by U.S. News and World Report. Today, SLIS has nearly 800 students enrolled on-ground across two campuses as well as online, approximately 30 of which are enrolled in the Ph.D. program. Diversity and inclusive excellence are celebrated by SLIS with current students and alumni hailing from every state in the U.S. and over 80 countries. The program offers a dynamic environment for research and learning, supporting approximately 230-260 students annually in internship and practicum placements. Our faculty have received grants from a diverse array of federal agencies and private foundations.

    The School of Library and Information Sciences invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Contract Faculty and Manager of Archives and Library Internships and Practicums (non-tenure track) to begin July 1, 2019.

    The successful candidate will be expected to teach all assigned courses as well as manage all internships and practicums in the Archives Concentration (LIS438 and 502) and for students taking the Library Internship Course (LIS501). We welcome applications from candidates with administrative experience who can demonstrate excellence in teaching and leadership in professional service. As a University committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, we also seek candidates with a demonstrated ability to work with individuals across a broad range of social and personal identities and perspectives.

    Responsibilities include teaching (on-ground and/or online) all three yearly sections of Advanced Internships in Libraries or Archives as well as other courses in the Archives concentration; recruiting and growing partnerships with internship sites, as well as advising on and managing all internships, placements and evaluations for introductory (LIS438) and advanced (LIS501/502) students on-campus, online and at SLIS West.

    Minimum qualifications include a Master???s degree in Library and Information Science (LIS) with a minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience. A doctorate in LIS is preferred but not required.
