Job Posting: Digital Initiatives Archivist (Faculty)

  • 1.  Job Posting: Digital Initiatives Archivist (Faculty)

    Posted Dec 09, 2019 04:36 PM

    Good afternoon,

I am pleased to share a tenure track archivist vacancy: Assistant Professor / Digital Initiatives Archivist. I am available to answer any questions about Omaha, UNO, or the position as candidates prepare their applications.

Omaha has recently been ranked one of the top cities where millennials are moving and staying and the best city for college grads to start their careers. The average Omaha commute is less than 20 minutes and a new rapid transit system with campus stops will debut in 2020. The variety and accessibility of Omaha's neighborhoods, cultural activities, restaurants, parks, sporting events, and many other entertainment options are a treasure and a treat in this affordable and livable Midwestern city of less than a million residents.

To be a strong community partner, UNO supports faculty and students who focus on "engaged scholarship" – work on "pressing social, civic, and ethical problems" – and express this in our service learning programs and in promotion and tenure processes. Even city-wide events in Omaha are integrated into our campus, as the surrounding city parks are home to concerts and outdoor theater such as the Maha Music Festival (2019 headliners were Jenny Lewis and Lizzo) and Nebraska Shakespeare. At UNO, we are fortunate to have engaged community leaders who see UNO as integral to the economic and cultural life of Omaha and Nebraska, as reinforced by the recent business-led economic development report "Blueprint Nebraska."

The position is open until filled with review of applications beginning January 6, 2020.

The salary range is $49,500-52,000 and compensation includes a competitive benefits package, professional development funds, and relocation assistance.

    Best regards,
