The average Omaha commute is less than 20 minutes and a new rapid transit system with campus stops will debut in 2020. The variety and accessibility of Omaha's neighborhoods, cultural activities, restaurants, parks, sporting events, and many other entertainment options are a treasure and a treat in this affordable and livable Midwestern city of less than a million residents.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) seeks an enthusiastic individual for the position of Assistant Professor / Digital Initiatives Archivist.
Reporting to the Director of Archives & Special Collections, the Digital Initiatives Archivist has primary responsibility for leading the development and activities of Archives & Special Collections' digital collections, including planning, administering platforms and tools, creating metadata, assessing the effectiveness of initiatives and services, and collaborating on related promotion and outreach initiatives. Supervises in-house and outsourced digitization. Leads digital initiatives for Archives & Special Collections by providing a full range of collection management, preservation, and sustainability services and best practices for unique analog and digital material. The Digital Initiatives Archivist serves as one of the library's leading resources on copyright, fair use, and open access issues. Contributes to and supports library services through the investigation, implementation, and enhancement of tools and services that assist with research, creativity, scholarship, and engagement. Additionally, the Digital Initiatives Archivist maintains team-based working relationships with colleagues in the department, library, and the university and fulfills requirements of faculty status in areas of contributions to librarianship, scholarly activities, and service.
Required Qualifications
ALA accredited MLS degree or Master's degree in Archival Studies or related field. Course work or training in archives. Experience with the arrangement and description of multi-format archival collections. Minimum one year experience working with digital collections (born digital or born analog) in an archives or special collections repository. Demonstrated experience with platforms for the discovery and management of digital objects and collections. Knowledge of current metadata standards. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and complete multiple projects. Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships. Must be flexible and capable of working successfully individually as well as in teams in a changing library environment.
Salary: $49,500 - $ 52,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
