    Archivists are required to have a strong command of industry best practices and content specialization. Equally vital but often overlooked is financial knowledge, which is key to confident organizational management at all levels as well as personal professional development. In this course, participants will be introduced to basic financial functions and processes, resource allocation and planning, and communication with colleagues and stakeholders regarding financial decision-making. In particular, this course will focus on daily financial management and budget-building.

    Upon completion of this course, you will:

    • Be prepared for and executive sound financial management based on data
    • Be equipped with the knowledge to build effective budgets for project, departmental, and institutional initiatives.
    • Learn the vocabulary and techniques to manage communications with stakeholders such as trustees, senior leadership, and funders regarding financial cultivation, reporting, and stewardship.
    • Navigate meaningful collaborations with colleagues to manage resources and collectivize efforts to fund, execute, and evaluate projects and operations.

    Who Should Attend: Archivists, librarians, staff, managers who provide any type of information services.

    What You Should Already Know: No prior experience is necessary.
