Is your repository located in the PNW and has collections related to working people, the labor movement, and interrelated civil rights and social justice struggles? The Labor Archives of Washington at the University of Washington Libraries Special Collections is issuing another call for all cultural heritage institutions in the Pacific Northwest with labor-related collections to participate in the Labor Records Survey! Thanks to the over 19 cultural heritage institutions that already participated during the first round in 2017, resulting in 12 new entries in the Society of American Archivists' Labor Archives Directory. This significantly expanded the representation of PNW repositories with labor records in their holdings! Once complete, this survey will also culminate in a published catalog of Pacific Northwest labor records.
The Regional Records Survey is a multi-year project, led by Crystal Rodgers, Labor Archivist for Processing, that includes a companion survey of records held by labor unions and affiliated organizations, helping the Labor Archives better understand the needs of our donor community, cultivate relationships with new organizations, plan for new donations, and offer records management and preservation consultations. Since the survey began in 2017, we now have data on 51 labor unions/affiliated organizations in WA and 19 repositories in the PNW.
