Having just passed changes in its standing rules regarding its governance, LAS is starting a new chapter in its leadership structure and looking for new blood to help move us forward.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
The Vice-Chair/Chair (2 year term) takes part in the coordination of LAS officer activities in coordination with the Chair as Vice Chair in their first year, participates in section officer activities, acts as secretary as needed during the annual meeting, and serves as acting Chair in the absence of the Chair. As Chair in second year of term, directs and reports section activities, organizes and conducts the section's annual meeting, chairs the Steering Committee, coordinates activities across section officers, acts as liaison for the section to other bodies, appoints section committees as needed, and handles administrative matters such as the section's annual report to SAA.
NEW! The Newsletter Editor (2 year term) is responsible for producing two newsletters each year, soliciting and coordinating newsletter submissions, editing contributions, and delivering issues to members. The Newsletter Editor is part of LAS Steering Committee and takes part in the leadership's monthly meeting and other LAS officer activities.
NEW! The Regional Representative Lead (2 year term) is part of a two-person Regional Rep team (staggered elections) responsible for coordinating a regional directory of professionals, organizations, activities, and other regional resources of interest to lone arrangers. The Regional Representative is part of LAS Steering Committee and takes part in the leadership's monthly meeting and other LAS officer activities.
Present Steering Committee Leadership continuing through 2022:
Sauda Mitchell 2020-22 will be serving as one of two first Regional Representative Leads in her second term year.
Rebecca Leung 2020-22 will be serving as our first Event Coordinator in her second term year.
Margaret Hewitt 2020-22 will be serving as our first Web Liaison in her second term year.
Katrina O'Brien 2019-22 will, by unanimous vote of the LAS Steering Committee, be serving as Chair through 2022 due to Vice-Chair/Chair Elect Amy Moorman having to step down from her LAS leadership role due to personal family health issues. The LAS Steering Committee appreciates Moorman's support in the governance standing rules changes she helped to instate and wishes her and her family the best of luck into the future.
SAA ELECTIONS TIMELINEThe LAS Section will conduct its annual elections via an online ballot system provided by the SAA staff. Basic ballot information (e.g., listing of offices, number of vacancies for each, names of candidates, and candidate statements) needs to be submitted to the SAA staff by June 1, 2021. Online ballots will be made accessible in early July 2021 and shall remain open for two weeks. Results will be announced at the LAS Annual Meeting, July 21st as well as the LAS listserv and website.------------------------------
